It’s not time, but our karma that defines our lives

If every moment is a tick on a clock that ultimately creates a lifetime, what makes it good or bad? And actually, is there a bad or good time? Almost all of us at some stage in life seem overwhelmed by situations that we have no control over. When we don’t get what we want we call it ‘bad’ and if a period gives us what we want, we call it ‘good’.

Even as we attach adjectives to the intangible time, we seem to have made it an extremely influential part of our lives. We seem to blame or glorify it, ignoring the truth that time has to do with actions and results.

Today, terrorism, poverty and ecological imbalance threaten our survival. In our hurry to achieve, we have destroyed resources, polluted the world and corrupted our inner self. Today there is greater depression in the minds of people. But what is the role of time when we form the world we live in? It is humanity’s collective karma. Our karma creates the experiences we need to relive in order to process a lower self-realisation. Self-reflection will help us make changes in life.

Only our actions can change things for the better. It is easy to think that our destiny is in the hands of politicians or corporations. But we as individuals can play a part.

Time needs the participation of those who are aware of their spiritual dimension, those whose consciousness can be aligned to something greater than their own well-being. We need to recognise the power and grace that comes from within. Whether we call it divine love or energy, we must know that it can change our life.

Any time is a good time to seek realisation and wisdom, earn experience and act on this knowledge. Hence, it isn’t time, but you and me and what we do — our karma which is responsible for our lives.
