Teacher battered to death over ‘affair’ with student

LUCKNOW: In a brazen incident, a teacher of a private school in a Malihabad village was battered to death in public, allegedly over his love affair with a girl student.

The youth had been kidnapped by the girl’s father and two brothers after the girl went missing from her house. The trio beat him up with rods and canes after finding the girl at his place on Tuesday night.

The police arrested the girl’s brothers after registering an FIR of murder against them while efforts were on for her father’s arrest.

The deceased, Ram Kumar, 30, a Mal resident was a teacher in a private school and was allegedly in a relationship with his student for the past few months. The cops said the girl reportedly eloped from her house two days ago and was staying with the teacher.

“The girl’s father, Raja Ram and her two brothers – Anil and Manish – were searching for her since then. The trio kidnapped Ram Kumar when he was harvesting crop in Uthrehta village on Tuesday night and took him along to their place in Malihabad,” said Alok Pathak, district police spokesman. He said the girl was recovered on information extracted from Ram Kumar.

Pathak said the girl’s father and brothers were so annoyed with the teacher that they started beating him up in full public view. The youth tried to flee from their clutches, but the trio chased him. He suffered multiple injuries and died after remaining unattended for the entire night, added Pathak.

He said the deceased’s family came to know about the incident when a local informed them about his death. The teacher’s father, Nanha lodged the FIR against the girl’s father and brothers with Malihabad police station.

In a similar incident, a 28-year-old youth Brijesh Kumar was also battered to death in a Malihabad village over his suspected involvement in a girl’s elopement on March 26. He allegedly helped his friend Raju elope with his lover. The girl’s family members had kidnapped him from his house in Hardoi’s Sandila area and beaten him to death after bringing him to Malihabad.
