Provide required ventilators, staff in KGMU: HC to state
LUCKNOW : The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed the principal secretary, medical education, to respond to the request for ventilators and concerned staff in KGMU hospital here within a week . It also directed the principal secretary, medical health, to take stock of the situation regarding availability of ventilators in the district hospitals of the state and submit a status report within two months.
A division bench comprising chief justice Dr Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud and justice Rajan Roy gave this order on Wednesday on a public interest litigation ( PIL ) petition filed by a local lawyer. The petition sought directions for providing the required ventilators in district hospitals, including the SGPGI and KGMU in Lucknow for saving patients.
The court was informed on behalf of the respondents that 87 ventilators were functioning in the SGPGI AND 83 functioning in KGMU. It was also informed on behalf of

the KGMU that orders for purchase of 12 ventilators had been placed and further requisition for 35 ventilators had been submitted before principal secretary, medical education.
