Madhesis to organise fresh protest rallies
KATHMANDU: Twenty-seven political parties and organisations in Nepal, including Madhesi and indigenous groups, on Friday announced fresh protest rallies across the country to push for changes in the new Constitution. The parties, under the banner of the Federal Alliance, will organise rallies and protest meetings from April 27. The campaign will culminate with a ‘gherao’ of Singha Darbar, the seat of Nepal’s government, on May 14. The earlier protests, which claimed more than 50 lives, were concentrated in Madhes. With several indigenous communities joining the Madhesi groups, the new protests could be spread across Nepal.
