TEAM PRASHANT KISHORE SEES HOPE FOR CONG IN VARANASI

VARANASI: With the aim of launching a mission to revive the Congress’s fortunes in Kashi, an eight-member team of political strategist Prashant Kishor met senior party leaders here on Tuesday.

One member of the team later said on the condition of anonymity that he saw high hopes for the party in the next year’s Assembly polls. He, however, did not elaborate further on his observatio­n.

In the morning, he along with three other members of the team discussed various issues while others visited several areas. The team PK, instead of making any suggestion­s, preferred listening to the Congress leaders, including district and city unit congress vice-presidents and general secretarie­s. They also held a meeting in the evening.

Comparativ­ely younger leaders along with the senior ones held a brainstorm­ing session in which various issues were discussed. Two members of the team were present during the meeting. They asked the party leaders a few questions.

Four members of the team visited different areas. On Wednesday, the team members will meet Congress frontal organisati­ons’ office bearers.

Later, the team will prepare a report and submit it to Prashant Kishor.

ONE MEMBER OF THE TEAM LATER SAID ON THE CONDITION OF ANONYMITY THAT HE SAW HIGH HOPES FOR THE PARTY IN THE NEXT ASSEMBLY POLLS.

Prajanath Sharma said senior partymen made some suggestion­s that the team members appreciate­d. The team has strategica­lly chosen Varanasi which is represente­d by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament because revival efforts here would have a statewide impact, a Congress leader said. Out of the eight assembly seats in Varanasi, Congress has only one seat Pindra. Congress leader Ajay Rai represents the seat in the state assembly.
