Top players of the district, including many AITA rankers would be seen in action in the three-day first district prize money tennis tournament, beginning Friday, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here under the auspices of the Janotkarsh Vikas Sansthan. Tournament secretary Shanish Mani Tripathi informed that players like Mariyam Khan, Apporva, Gautam Anand, Amit Tilak, Govind etc. have confirmed their participat­ion in the championsh­ip, which is open for men and women players. SELECTION TRIALS Two-day trials to select Uttar Pradesh team will begin on April 30, at the astroturf stadium in Etawah from 7.00 am. Uttar Pradesh Hockey secretary RP Singh informed the selected team would participat­e in the 6th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from May 14 to 22 at Imphal. KABADDI TOURNEY Hosts Lucknow got off to a flying start in the Women’s Kabaddi Tournament, defeating Ambedkar Nagar by 29 points, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Thursday. In other matches of the day, Ambedkar Nagar beat Varanasi by five points, Kanpur beat Kannoj by 31 points and Azamgarh beat Unnao by 29 points. SUMMER CAMP Two week long summer training camp of the National Cricket Club came to an end, at the Lucknow Christian PG College here on Thursday with the distributi­on of certificat­es to all the participan­ts. On the occasion in a friendly match, National Cricket Club ‘Blue’ beat National Cricket Club ‘Red’ by 23 runs. JCC TRIUMPH Jyoti Cricket Club (JCC) scored a convincing 55-run win against Lucknow Cricket Academy (LCA) to collect full points in the Sachin Tendulkar Trophy Under-17 Cricket Tournament, at the Chowk Stadium here on Thursday.
