idea as she wanted to grab the entire property of the deceased. Besides, the woman allegedly had illicit relations with her brother-in-law.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sushila Singh, wife of the deceased’s elder son Sanjay Singh, Sanjay’s cousin brother Saurabh Singh alias Shivam and his friend Raghvendra Singh.

“Sushila is the main conspirator and she roped in two other accused to execute the murder,” said additional SP (ASP), rural, Pratap Gopendra. He said Sushila was married to the deceased’s elder son Sanjay Singh around five years ago but she later developed illicit relations with her younger brotherin-law Ranvijay Singh and his cousin Saurabh Singh. He said Sushila thought she would not allow Ranvijay to get married and thus she would inherit the entire property.

“She planned the murder as the deceased was desperate to get his younger son married at the earliest. She initially misled Ranvijay and got the marriage cancelled but feared that the deceased would soon marry him off. She first tried to rope in Ranvijay for the crime but he refused to go against his father. She then took the help of Saurabh and his friend,” said the ASP. He said the trio went to the orchard and strangulated Munna Singh to death. He said the trio also took along around `9,200 present with him and the same currency was also recovered from them.
