‘BJP trying to cause communal trouble’

- HT Correspondent

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday accused the BJP of raking up the alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana in a bid to “trigger communal violence in UP ahead of 2017 assembly election”.

She blamed the Congress, the BJP and Samajwadi Party for migration of people from the state post-independence.

“The only difference between earlier migration and that taking place under the SP rule was that during the Congress and the BJP government, the people migrated to metropolitan city in search of employment whereas under SP rule the people are migrating due to terror and lawlessness unleashed by criminal elements,” she said.

“The state government has failed to check migration in drought-hit districts, particularly in the Bundelkhand region. Government aid has not reached the people in drought-hit districts and a majority of them are starving,” she said

Mayawati thanked the media for exposing the BJP game plan by bringing “real facts of Kairana” before the people. “It was the duty of the state government to uncover the BJP conspiracy but media persons visited ground zero to bare BJP lie on migration of the people from Kairana,” she said.

Lashing out at the central government, Mayawati said, “People had voted for the NDA in 2014 Lok Sabha election with hope that their standard of living would improve and youths would get employment. The Narendra Modi government had completed two years in power. The common people are feeling cheated as none of the promises made by them have been fulfilled,” she said.

“The morale of criminal elements is high under the SP government. The people are a harassed lot. Instead of taking of taking action against the criminals, the state government is providing protection to them,” she said, adding that people were feeling unsafe.

Mayawati said, “Instead of taking action against the SP government, the BJP leaders were indulging in political gimmicks. The central government should have sought a report from the governor.”
