LUCKNOW: Chief secretary Deepak Singhal, who has done away with the practice of accepting a guard of honour during visits to districts, on Saturday asked officials to give up traditional working style of holding too many meetings. Asking his colleagues to dispose of issues on priority to ensure quick delivery of services to public, Singhal said: “Senior officials would have to change their working style. They would have to take quick decisions for resolution of issues instead of holding routine meetings.”

LUCKNOW: Upset after being sacked, a former employee of Deepak Trading Company looted ` 5 lakh from the company’s accountant in Rajendra Nagar, under Naka police station, on Thursday afternoon, with help from three of his friends. However, the trio could not keep it secret for long and was traced within 12 hours. Police arrested all three and recovered the entire amount in the wee hours on Friday .

The miscreants had waylaid and looted Rajneesh Pandey, accountant of Deepak Trading Company when he was going to deposit the cash in the Aishbagh branch of Bank of India, at around 1pm.

Those arrested were Shubham Singh, Pradeep Singh, Dhananjay Singh and Shailendra Singh. Shubham earlier worked with the same trading company and its owner Deepak Kumar Agarwal sacked him for some silly mistake on July 6. “Shubham planned to settle scores with the company owner by committing the loot. He roped in Pradeep, whose father is a constable in Punjab Police, Shailendra, a BA part III student of Lucknow University and Dhananjay, BA Part III student of Awadh University, Faizabad,” said Manzil Saini, senior superintendent of police (SSP) .

“Shubham confessed to his involvement in the crime and said that he wanted to teach a lesson to his ex-employer. He hatched the conspiracy immediately after being sacked from the job. The accused executed the loot only 48 hours after Shubham lost the job,” said Akashy Kumar and Anurag Mishra, sub-inspectors of the crime branch. The duo, along with constable LuvKush Mishra, was instrumental in working out the case and recovering the robbed amount. Mishra said Shubham was already aware about the working of the company and the accountant’s movement. He said Shubham and his friends laid a trap near the company’s office and followed the accountant for around 1.5 kilometres from Dugawan to Rajendra Nagar before intercepting him and robbing the cash. He said the entire robbed amount, a country made firearm, two motorcycles and eight mobile phones used in the crime had been recovered.
