LUCKNOW: After former Zila Panchyat chairman Vijay Bahadur Yadav, the city police tightened the noose around another local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Faqir Siddiqui, registering an FIR on Friday night for attacking an elderly woman and her son after forcibly entering their house in Indira Nagar over a parking dispute . Yadav was earlier arrested on Friday morning for alleged involvement in attacking villagers for grabbing a land in Chinhat after his expulsion from the party on Thursday.

Locals said Faqir Siddiqui and his nephew Sheikhu were accused of attacking a retired teacher Mahjabin Begum and her son Syyed Afzal Ahmad, who is promoter in a software company, over a parking dispute in Indira Nagar. Siddiqui’s family lives close to the victims’ house and often park their vehicles in front of that house. On Friday night also, Siddiqui and Sheikhu parked their vehicles in front of the victims’ house and started a fight when the retired teacher and her son objected to it.

Ahmad alleged that Siddiqui started abusing him and his mother and attacked them after forcibly entering the house. “This is not the first time when Siddiqui used abusive words. Earlier too he had created a similar nuisance several times. I even complained to the local police about Siddiqui in the past but they did not take any action due to his political clout,” he said, adding, “The cops always supported Siddiqui and his aides”.

The complainant alleged that Siddiqui went overboard on Friday night when he attacked him and his mother . He said Siddiqui even threatened him with dire consequences and disappeared when some media persons reached the spot after being informed about the incident. He handed over a complaint at Indira Nagar police station immediately after the attack but the cops were initially reluctant to register an FIR in the matter.

Station officer of Indira Nagar police station said the FIR was registered against Siddiqui and his aides later on the intervention of senior police officials under IPC sections 452 for criminal house trespass, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt and 506 for threatening. He said further probe in the matter was on.
