Results of 1.5 lakh engg students delayed

-

LUCKNOW: Nearly 1.5 lakh engineering students across the state are in a fix as their semester results have been delayed. Among them are 40,000 final year students who are losing out on job opportunities. The results were to be announced by June 30. However, the APJ Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will take another two weeks to declare the results.

“The examinations were over in June but final year results are still awaited. Unless we get our mark sheet and degrees we cannot apply for jobs. The placement cell in our college is not very proactive. We will have to hunt for jobs on our own,” said a final year student on condition of anonymity.

Another student said that the chancellor of the university and governor Ram Naik should take note of the plight of engineering students. “The governor has been stressing that academic session should be regular and results should not be delayed. It is high time he stepped in,” another final year student said.

There are several reasons for this delay. “This year, the university introduced digital evaluation of answer sheets and teachers took some time to understand the procedure . This was one factor that delayed the result,” said AKTU VC, Prof Vinay Pathak. Another reason is a technical issue related to weightage. However, AKTU has assured result of final semester students by July 10 followed by those of other semesters.
