AKTU to award grace marks to failed students

-

LUCKNOW: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has taken a number of student-friendly decisions to help thousands of its failed students to pass their backlog papers and move on. The university has decided to award grace up to 15% marks in a paper. For the complete course, grace up to 40 marks will be given to help failed students of B Tech, B Arch and B Pharma to clear exams.

This decision was taken at the examination committee meeting held on Saturday. If students fail even after availing this benefit, the university will give them another opportunity to clear the exam. The grace marks system means that if a student has not failed in second, third and fourth year and has back paper in first year, the university will award those accumulated grace marks for the first year back paper. Nearly 50,000 students are likely to benefit from this decision. Besides, the university has introduced choice-based credit system.

In case a student has missed practical examination but has appeared in theory, he or she will get an opportunity to appear in practical before the declaration of result by depositing `10,000 additional fee. The varsity will now slap a fine up to `10 lakh on engineering and management colleges that do not upload students’ attendance on university website. Every month, colleges affiliated to AKTU will have to upload students’ attendance on the university website and the link will be available on the college portal.
