AGRA: Saas-bahu sagas are nothing new; however, here is one with a twist. A Russian ‘bahu’ is sitting on a ‘dharna’ on the doorstep of her ‘sasural’ in Indrapuri locality of Agra seeking share of her husband's property from her mother-inlaw. What’s more the ‘bahu’ Olga Efimenkova is adamant not to end her protest till her husband is provided the share. Despite rainfall, Olga continued with her dharna on Saturday.

Olga had married Vikrant Singh Chandel in 2011 and they have a son. The couple had been residing in Goa but after suffering losses in business, they went back to Agra. However, when the couple reached their house they could not gain entry because Vikrant’s mother Nirmala Chandel had gifted the property to her daughter who runs school there. Agitated over her husband being deprived of his share in the property, Olga sat on a dharna at the doorstep of her ‘sasural.’ She is being supported by her husband Vikrant.

When asked, Olga said that she had informed New Agra police and Russian embassy but police did not register a case as they said it was a case of property dispute amongst family members.

Meanwhile, Olga’s motherin-law Nirmala Chandel maintained that she is living in a single room and had gifted the house to her daughter who is estranged from her husband. “My daughter runs school on the premises and I have already given Rs 11 lakh to Vikrant. Now nothing is left with me to give to him,” said Nirmal.

She further added that her son and daughter-in-law gamble and consume liquor and have not cared about her.

However, the ‘dharna’ by Nirmala’s Russian ‘bahu’ has become hot topic of discussion among locals who are reaching the house to have see the dharna.
