‘Adopting IT expedites work and efficiency’
LUCKNOW: Experts apprised industrialists of the use of information technology and mobiles in expanding their business at a programme on ‘Use of information technology and mobile devices for business’ organised by the MSME Development Centre (IMDC) of Indian Industries Association (IIA) here on Sunday.
Entrepreneurs of micro, small and medium enterprises attended the programme.
Manish Goel, president of the IIA, deliberated on the importance of having knowledge about the use of information technology and mobile devices for successfully running a business.
“Adoption of IT not only reduces paper work but also cuts down time for completing the work. Thereby, IT increases efficiency and helps in expanding business,” Goel said.
Dr Sanjay Medhavi, head of department, business administration, Lucknow University, spoke on ‘Role of information technology in business success’.
“Business relations need to be digitally mediated in order to apply information technology in an organisation. Digitally active organisations offer greater flexibility in organisation and management. The core business processes need to be digitally enabled in order to shift towards information technology,” said Medhavi.
“Mere investment in IT by an organisation does not guarantee good returns. Development of a good business model is necessary and adoption of IT and its proper implementation will yield profits,” added Medhavi.
The cost of information technology has become quite affordable today for the MSMEs, Medhavi asserted.
Prof Syed Haider Ali, head of department, business administration, Khwaja Moinuddinchishti Urdu ArbiFarsi University, Lucknow, gave a presentation on ‘Business impact of mobile apps and availability/ design of mobile apps’.
Prof Ali apprised industrialists about the positive and negative aspects of usage of mobile.
“Various features like video calling, communication via use of email increases efficiency of any business as compared to the uses of traditional methods,” said Prof Ali.
He also discussed about mobile data protection feature for securing data on storage systems.
Prof Ali also pointed out that mobile applications were necessary for retaining customers and building a brand image.
Narayan Shukla, founder and CEO of Singapore based mobile application development company, Singsys, had an interactive session on online shopping, digital marketing and social networking and a session on digital communication and computing.
Shukla explained the basics of digital communication and cloud computing along with cloud security.
He resolved various queries of industrialists related to mobile applications.
