The State Information Commission started working from the new building from April 4 this year but formal inaugural ceremony of the building is still awaited.

Due to busy schedule of the Vice President, the State Information Commission could not get confirmation from his office about his visit to Lucknow.

Before shifting to the new building in Gomti Nagar, the State Information Commission was operating from Indira Bhawan.

The new four-storey building of the SIC has come up at Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, with a cost of `20 crore. The Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, an agency of the state government, had constructed the new building.

On an average, each court takes up 50 cases. Litigants from all across the state come to the SIC’s office here in the state capital when their RTI applications go unheard.
