Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence on Sunday that the Samajwadi Party would return to power for the second consecutive term to serve the masses of the state. Yadav further said that no matter when the state assembly elections were held, the Samajwadi Party was all prepared and did not fear any rival.

The chief minister was here to attend a marriage. He was earlier in Shikohabad town of Firozabad and then flew to Agra.

Talking to the media, the CM claimed that projects initiated by his government were near completion and those which began later were visibly taking shape.

“We are working to improve the drinking water facility of Agra. The inner ring road project is nearing completion as the district administration has acquired land with the cooperation of farmers. Although construction of ROB would take some time, bridges on the Yamuna would be completed in time,” he said.

“The work on Express Way connecting Agra with Lucknow is progressing fast and now ‘mandis’ are coming up alongside the Express Way. Besides connecting Etawah, Kannauj and other cities, the Express Way would also lead to growth in villages,” he said.

“When the masses would go for comparison, they would find the Samajwadi government the best for development work,” the CM asserted, adding that the Centre’s development work was not visible. Asked as to when the elections would take place, the CM said SP workers were ready for polls , whenever they might be held. “We anticipate that we will be able to complete the projects before going for elections,” he said.
