Answering media queries on who was likely to be projected as the chief ministerial candidate from Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2017 UP assembly elections, he said, “The party has many faces. UP CM candidate will be decided by the party but before that we all need to work hard for the elections.”

Singh also shared information on some of the initiatives that he undertook in the education sector in Rajasthan.

MP Satish Gautam reiterated why AMU was not a minority institution. “The British government had founded AMU under the AMU Act, 1920. It was declared an institution of national importance in the constitution of the country. Then, while delivering verdict in the Aziz Basha case (1968), the Supreme Court had also said that no religious minority had ever established or administered the varsity.”

Gautam added, “In 1991, AMU Court had sent a proposal of 50% Muslim reservation to the President of India who is also the visitor of the university. The president had rejected the proposal back then but in 2005, the varsity implemented 50% reservation for Muslims students. Then in October 2005, Allahabad HC declared 50% Muslim reservation in AMU as illegal and unconstitutional.”
