Allahabad’s Kavya enjoys fine run in table tennis

LUCKNOW: Allahabad’s Kavya Gupta had a fine first day in the Ram Murtiji Memorial 2nd UP State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at Bareilly on Sunday as she made it to the semi-finals of as many as three categories, scoring contrastin­g wins.

She first defeated Lucknow’s Moitree Chatterjee 11-8, 13-11, 12-10 in the women’s singles quarterfin­als, and then struggled to win against citymate Pooja Singh 14-12, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8 in the youth girls quarterfin­als. In the junior girls quarters, she outplayed Mahika Dixit of Ghaziabad 11-5, 11-8, 11-9. RESULTS
