-

A nine-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped and murdered on his birthday here on Friday. His semi-naked body bearing multiple injury marks was recovered in Banthra on Saturday morning. The body was found lying in 5-feet-deep Nagwa drain on Harauni road, nearly 12 kilometres from the boy’s house in Krishna Nagar from where he had gone missing since Friday evening.

The boy was identified as Vipin Sharma, son of Ved Prakash Sharma, a carpenter by profession who stays in a rented accommodation in Krishna Nagar’s Ali Nagar Sunahara locality. The boy’s father stated Vipin, students of Class 5 , had gone missing while he was playing outside his house at around 5pm on Friday. He had lodged an FIR regarding his kidnapping with Krishna Nagar police station on Friday night after searching for him for over five hours.

“He had turned nine on Friday and was very excited to celebrate birthday with his friends but he disappeared only few hours before the celebrations. We started searching for him when he was not spotted for around two hours,” said the boy’s father.

Sanjay Kharwar, station officer of Banthra police station said the body was spotted by some locals during morning walk.

Meanwhile, locals claimed the injury on the boy’s head clearly indicated that he was murdered after being hit with some heavy and blunt object. However, the body has been sent for postmortem to confirm the cause of death.

The boy’s father so far has not raised suspicion on anyone but police have picked up some suspects for questioning.
