Woman, new born baby stuck in lift for 40 mins

A woman, her 25- dayold baby and her father got stuck in a lift at Sunrise Apartments on Kanpur Road late on Friday night.

It took the residents of the apartment more than 40 minutes to get them out . The mother and her baby were provided medial aid immediatel­y as they were not well.

The Sunrise Apartment Welfare Society on Saturday handed over a complaint against the builder to the Aashiana police.

According to reports, at around 10.30 pm on Friday, Seema Singh was coming down from her seventh floor flat in Anuradha block of the apartment by a lift, with her 25-day old daughter and her father BD Ahirwar.

However, the lift got stuck on the third floor. The hapless family made a frantic call at all emergency numbers displayed in the lift, but there was no response.

After they shouted for help and banged on the lift’s door, other residents came to know about the incident.

When all efforts to open the lift failed, residents called on emergency number 100 to seek help from cops. Police personnel from Aashiana police station rushed to the building .

“With much effort, the lift was opened after around 40 minutes. No one from the builder’s side helped in the rescue operation,” said Keshav Prasad Mishra, a resident of Sunrise Apartment.

Residents also complained that the lift had malfunctio­ned several times in the past one year.

The Sunrise Apartment Welfare Society on Saturday handed over a complaint to the Aashiana police seeking action against the builder.

Of late, several incidents of malfunctio­ning of lifts have been reported from the state capital.
