BJP MP hits out at Delhi Police for linking him with sex racket
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Saturday said that he was shocked at the manner in which the Delhi Police chose to link him in a sex racket without any substantive evidence.
Daring the Delhi cops to prove his involvement, he said, “I would quit public life if the cops can find any clue that links me with the case. All that they had allegedly found was a fake reservation request on my letterhead from the premises of a person who they claimed ran a sex racket. The letterhead too was fake,” the veteran politician claimed. “My life is an open book,” he claimed. The Delhi Police subsequently apologised to the politician and cleared in writing that no role of any politician has come to light during the investigations in the case.
“I have had a long innings in public life. The manner in which an attempt was made to tarnish my reputation is shocking. And I must say that I was equally shocked at the manner in which media carried one-sided stories for several days. But when the Delhi police clarified that I didn’t have a role, none carried it,” the BJP MP said. Pal told the media here that after he brought the matter to the notice of union home minister Rajnath Singh, officials of the Delhi Police called him up and apologized.
Ishwar Singh, DCP/South District said in writing that the Delhi Police hadn’t come across any information or document revealing the role of any politician in the case pertaining to one PN Sanyal. Pal distributed copies of the letter to the media and said even Congress leader Pramod Tiwari had backed him and spoken to union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on the issue.
