The murder of a 28-yeard-old insurance firm employee Vijay Mishra rocked the posh Gomti Nagar on Sunday. Mishra was found dead with his throat slit in his rented accommodation in Vineet Khand this morning.

He worked in Reliance Insurance Company and had been a tenant in the house of Ram Kishore Verma for the past one year.

He lived alone. The body was discovered when Verma went to see him after not spotting him till 10 am. The landlord then informed the local police and Santosh Kumar Mishra, elder brother of the deceased who lives in Gorakhpur.

Some locals informed the police that some youths had visited Mishra on Saturday and stayed till late night.

They apprehended the involvement of the same visitors in the crime, as Mishra was last seen alive before their visit. The victim’s brother has lodged an FIR of murder against unidentified people . However, he could not say if the victim had enmity or dispute with any person.

Station officer of Gomti Nagar, Dhirendra Shukla said the crime scene examination suggested that the deceased struggled before being murdered.

He said the deceased’s throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon, which caused death. The body has been sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Shukla said the police were listing the names of people who visited Mishra’s room on Saturday night and also scanning the details of his mobile phone.

Shukla added, “Initial probe suggests that the crime was the fallout of a professional dispute or personal vendetta against the deceased. People who frequently called Mishra are being questioned. At least four people had been detained for quizzing.”
