BJP slammed for anti-dalit approach

Activists of Desh Shakti Party protested against the BJP on Sunday, blaming it for ‘anti-dalit’ bias over the sexist slur on BSP chief Mayawati by former UP BJP vice president Dayashankar Singh.

Blaming the BJP for using Dayashankar’s wife and daughter for targeting the dalits, former director general of police SN Chak, also the party’s national chief, slammed BJP’s “anti-dalit” mindset.

“Irrespective of how BJP paints it, the fact remains that it was BJP which first started it all. Everyone wants the dalit vote but no one wants to give respect to them,” Chak said after protesting outside the BJP office on Sunday.

He said, “This isn’t the first instance of BJP leaders’ displaying their anti-dalit approach. Earlier union minister of state General (retired) VK Singh had also made an anti-dalit remark. If the BJP actually means well for dalits, it should clear the way for reservation in promotion.” Chak said if the BJP failed to clear the passage for reservation in promotion, his party would stage protests.

Meanwhile, union minister of state Mahendra Pandey said, “Dalits were coming closer to BJP as they have realised that they have been cheated by those whom they trusted.”
