Kolkata Sunny Park murder victim’s kin wary of cover-up

-

Voicing fear that the accused may ‘influence’ the ongoing investigation into the Sunny Park murder case, the family of Aabesh Dasgupta — the teenager who died of fatal injuries suffered during a party at the posh south Kolkata area, on Saturday evening — demanded that the postmortem of his body be recorded on video.

Investigation has already revealed that Aabesh attended the birthday bash of his friend Aruna — daughter of eminent English writer Amit Chaudhuri — at a popular nightclub before visiting the Sunny Park apartment block where Aruna lives.

“It’s a murder case and we want a fair probe. But we fear that the family of the accused may influence the investigation. We have written to the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ballygunge police station, requesting him to have the entire post-mortem procedure video-recorded,” Aabesh’s mother Rimjhim told HT on Sunday.

Accepting their request, the police filmed his post-mortem at the morgue of Calcutta Medical College on Sunday evening.

A student of St Xaviers Collegiate School, Aabesh was found lying in a pool of blood at the basement of the Sunny Park apartment block on Saturday.

“A group of 17 friends went to a south Kolkata nightclub to celebrate Aruna’s birthday. At about 6 pm, some security guards heard a brawl in the basement and rushed to find Aabesh lying in a pool of blood.

They sent word to Amit Chaudhuri, who rushed Aabesh to the hospital,” Vishal Garg, Joint CP (Crime), said.
