First podium for Arjun in GP3 race

-

NEW DELHI: Arjun Maini secured a maiden GP3 podium in Hungary on Sunday, becomes the first Indian racing driver to do so.

In Race 1, Arjun moved up from 9th spot to the 8th, granting him reverse pole for Race 2. It was his second reverse pole in in two races in GP3.

Arjun, however, lost the lead as soon as the Race Two began, with Alexander Albon making the most of a slow start by the Indian. He further faced stiff competition from series leader Charles Leclerc, but managed to finish second.

“I didn’t make the best start as (Alexander) Albon got a pretty good jump on me. I really wanted to hold onto my lead so I tried to outbrake him going into Turn 1 but he was wise to it and blocked me off,” said Arjun.
