After court intervention, prime accused and three others sent to jail
LUCKNOW: All efforts to save Aditya Singh, the prime accused in the stunt biking case who inflicted serious injuries to subinspector Shashank Dev Shukla, went futile after the chief judicial magistrate directed doctors to present Singh before the court and ordered to send him to jail.
Doctors at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital had prepared a ‘favourable’ medical report for Singh, allegedly under pressure of some influential people to avoid sending him to jail.
The doctors who recommended ‘relaxation’ for Aditya Singh on medical grounds have been summoned by CJM Sandhya Srivastava on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Singh was admitted to the same hospital and was not produced before the court with doctors stating that he was not in a condition to be discharged.
However, another co-accused (pillion rider) Aryan Bhaskar and two other stunt-bikers were already sent to jail.
“The panel of three doctors comprising Dr N Bhalla, Dr AC Srivastava and Dr BD Pathak had prepared Singh’s report and recommended his admission to the hospital, apprehending serious injuries in his stomach,” said Dr Onkar Yadav, chief medical superintendent of the RML hospital.
“In compliance of the court’s order, Dr ML Bhargava, superintendent of the hospital along with cops had accompanied Singh to the court,” added Yadav.
Dhirendra Shukla, station officer of Gomti Nagar, confirmed that Singh had also been sent to jail after the court’s order to send him in judicial custody.
Sources said several influential people were making efforts for release of Aditya Singh soon after he was arrested on Monday night. “Initially, pressure was mounted on the Gomti Nagar police to not send Singh to jail and the medical ground was prepared after cops refused to favour him,” said a cop of Gomti Nagar police station.
