Mohanlalga­nj projects: Show-cause notice issued to two officials for laxity

LUCKNOW: On finding the ongoing constructi­on work in Mohanlalga­nj tehsil as substandar­d, district magistrate on Tuesday issued show-cause notices to junior engineer (JE) and project manager of the constructi­on agency engaged in the work. Besides, DM also ordered to black list the contractor and recover 5 percent from the total payment made to him.

DM’s action came after a surprise check which he conducted on Monday to assess the quality of the ongoing projects in Mohanlalga­nj. The projects were being carried out by MPLAD funds. “Show cause notices have been served to the JE and project manager of the constructi­on agency and we have blackliste­d the contractor for using sub-standard building material,” said Raj Shekhar, district magistrate.

work of interlocki­ng tiles and one CC road constructi­on site. Officials said irregulari­ties were found in almost all the projects that were being carried out by Uttar Pradesh Grameen Awaas Vikas Parishad.

As per the findings of the officers, the interlocki­ng road was uneven, stone ballast used in the constructi­on of CC road was not of prescribed size, the thickness of the crust was found less besides other irregulari­ties.

“Constructi­on work was found dissatisfa­ctory. We have ordered a deduction of 5 percent from the total payment made to the contractor. The fining amount is to be deposited in next 15 days otherwise legal action will be initiated,” added Shekhar.
