LUCKNOW: Vector-borne diseases continued to take a toll on the city as two more patients reportedly succumbed to dengue in Mohanlalganj and Nigohan areas here on Tuesday. But CMO SNS Yadav remained in denial mode, saying that dengue deaths were yet not confirmed.

In the first case, Pramod Kumar Shukla, 35 of Mohanlalganj died in a private hospital. His family members said he was diagnosed with dengue while Jyoti, 16, resident of Nigohan died in Lohia hospital on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Contrary to the CMO’s claims, over 40 patients were admitted to various hospitals of the city with complaint of dengue during the day.

Residents of Mohanlalganj who assembled for the last rites of Pramod Kumar Shukla came to know that district magistrate Raj Shekhar was coming to visit their area, but they were unable to stop his the car on the highway. The angry residents then jammed the road for an hour to protest against the death of Shukla due to dengue demanded proper cleaning of the area and dengue test facility at the CHC in Mohanlalganj. The jam was removed when SDM Shailendra Mishra reached the spot and agreed to their demands. He said all the demands of the residents would be forwarded to the district magistrate and CMO.

However, CMO SNS Yadav denied that deaths of RLD leader Munna Singh Chauhan and police inspector KG Shukla were due to dengue. “We have asked for the detailed report of the death of RLD leader Munna Singh Chauhan and inspector Shukla. Unless we get report about their deaths, we cannot say that they died due to dengue. Munna Singh Chauhan was referred by Shyama Prasad Mukherji Hospital to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). But he was taken to Midland Hospital and after that he was taken to SGPGIMS, where he died. According to reports, he was not tested for dengue. Similarly, inspector Shukla was suffering from jaundice and his dengue was not confirmed. But still inquiry has been constituted in both cases,” said the CMO.
