Div commissioner’s stress on fogging, cleaning
LUCKNOW: In the wake of the dengue outbreak in the city, an officer of the rank of a deputy collector would monitor cleaning and fogging work in all the eight zones of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC). Divisional commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey has also directed magistrate rank officials to monitor the daily cleaning work in all wards.
Meanwhile, the district magistrate has ordered mapping of dengue-affected areas by and a plan to tackle the menace.
The district administration will depute a magistrate (a deputy collector rank officer) for each zone. They will daily check the status of cleaning and fogging in the areas to supervise and coordinate the work.
They will report back to the DM and commissioner on the standard format with photos and videos of the work carried out on a daily basis .
The ‘important meeting on dengue control’ chaired by divisional commissioner at commissioner office on Friday was attended by the district magistrate, municipal commissioner , additional municipal commissioner , chief medical officer, chief medical superintendents of all government hospitals and KGMC, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) and Ram Manohar Lohia hospital .
The divisional commissioner took updates from the CMO and municipal commissioner about the present status and the action and expressed concern over rising cases of dengue in the city. He also directed all departments to take it as a challenge to counter the disease.
During the meeting, the commissioner directed the CMO to ‘Map the areas of prevalence & potential threats’ by Saturday evening.
The commissioner also directed the municipal commissioner to ‘make a special plan’ for dengue -affected areas. He directed the officials to depute the ‘best possible staff and machinery’ for fogging and cleaning of identified areas on priority.
He instructed the municipal commissioner to get the damaged fogging machines (around 12) repaired in the next 3 to 4 days.
He said garbage from all parts of the city should be lifted daily and processed in the Shivri plant. The CMSes were told to stock sufficient medicines and kits and to personally look after the dengue wards.
The commissioner also instructed CMOs to publicise the dos and don’ts regarding the disease. He reiterated that the treatment for dengue in government hospitals was free of cost.
