-

LUCKNOW: The office of the Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) on Wednesday issued a circular, advising police officers and personnel to wear full sleeve shirts and ensure proper cleanliness in and around police installments.

The circular was issued after several dengue cases were reported within the police force across the state. Two police sub inspectors died of the disease in the state capital and some other cops are undergoing treatment.

The circular was issued by inspector general (IG), Sanjay Singhal, assistant to DGP Javeed Ahmad, directing all district police chiefs and commandants of all PAC battalions across the state to wear full sleeve shirts and use mosquito repellents to avoid mosquito bites. “The DGP also asked the district police chiefs and commandants to ensure proper cleanliness in reserve police lines, PAC battalions’ premises, police stations, outposts and offices,” said the circular. The district police chiefs have also been asked to sensitise lower rung cops about dengue so that they can protect themselves and their family members. They have been told to conduct proper fogging on the police campuses.

Earlier, SSP Lucknow Manzil Saini had on Saturday issued a directive to city cops to go on preapproved leave if suffering from dengue and high fever. A health camp was also organised under the supervision of chief medical officer (CMO) Lucknow during which the doctors offered free consultation and check-up to police personnel and their families.
