E-governance can be gamechanger for UP: Assocham
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh has achieved 10% growth rate which could go up to 12% in 2016-17, if the state government properly implements its e-governance and digitisation scheme. A joint study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India and the TARI revealed this in a report ‘Ease of doing business in Uttar Pradesh.’
Secretary general of Assocham DS Rawat and director of Thought Arbitrage Research Institute (TARI), Kshama Kaushik, released the report on Wednesday in the state capital. Rawat informed that in the World Bank parameter of doing business, UP had climbed to the 10th position among all states in the country. “Out of 98 parameters prescribed by the World Bank for ‘ease of doing business’, Uttar Pradesh has fulfilled almost 48% of the prescribed standards,” Rawat told mediapersons here.
Rawat further said that if the UP government implemented its e-governance and digitisation programme more effectively then the state could achieve 12% growth rate in the financial year 2016-17.
Kshama Kaushik suggested the UP government to improve the level and extent of digitisation of processes to ensure smooth operations in shorter time frames to minimise contact with government agencies.
Kaushik pointed out that all NOCs required for setting up an industry in the state is received online and there is minimal manual intervention.
The study report also suggested to integrate the system of providing incentives under industrial policies with single window system of Nivesh Mitra, where an entrepreneur could check application, make payments, track status of approvals and refunds under schemes.
