SP-BSP lock horns over Madarsa grants

-

The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Wednesday locked horns over who was a true well-wisher of Muslims. Both the parties accused each other of hobnobbing with the BJP.

Miffed at the government’s response, the BSP members staged a walkout of the Upper House.Speaking under the Rule 105, BSP’s Naseemuddin Siddiqi, Atar Singh, Pradeep Kumar Jatav and others demanded the government to restore the facilities with regard to leave, grant etc to the Madarsa and its teachers.

Siddiqui pointed out that many of the facilities provided by the BSP government to the Madarsas were withdrawn under the SP regime.

Taking objection, leader of the House and senior minister, Ahamad Hasan said the facilities BSP members were talking about was already being provided to the Madarsa teachers. He further added that BSP had no moral authority of talking about Muslims’ interests having formed the government in an alliance with the BJP thrice.

Earlier, during the Question Hour, SP’s Bhatrudra Prakash raised the question of City Montessori School (CMS) extorting parents in the name of bus fare in Lucknow.

Replying to the question transport minister Yasar Shah said CMS did not charge any bus fare from its students who used the school bus service.

He said what it realised was the maintenance charges.

Chairman Ramesh Yadav referred the matter to the references study committee. After the lunch-break, the Vidhan Parishad passed seven bills unanimously. All these bills had already been passed by the Lower House.
