Work on stadium-Munshipulia route to begin from Sept-end LUCKNOW:
PROJECT UPDATE Metro rail work won’t be affected by polls, says LMRC
UP elections would not affect the Lucknow metro rail project and work would continue on the entire 23-kilometre stretch of north-south corridor from Transport Nagar to Munshipulia as per schedule, said LMRC MD Kumar Keshav on Thursday.
While work on the underground section from Hussainganj to Hazratganj had already begun, the next phase from KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium to Munshipulia would also start from Septemberend.
The track bed from Transport Nagar to Mawaiyya is almost ready. The wiring work on the 6.7 km track between Transport Nagar to Mawaiyya track was in progress.
Meanwhile, the first car shell of Lucknow metro coaches was complete. LMRC MD Kumar Keshav and secretary housing Pandhari Yadav inspected the coaches at the Alstom India factory in Chennai and directed officials of the company to ensure that the coaches were delivered in Lucknow between November 15 and 30.
In all, the company would manufacture 80 coaches for the LMRC, which would be delivered before the completion of metro project. LMRC MD said the stainless steel coaches would be the most advanced in the country. “They will be light weight with regenerative disc break that would save around 35% energy. The coaches are designed for a maximum speed of 85 kmph and operational speed of 75 kmph. They will also have an average speed of 35 kmph. Each coach can accommodate a maximum of 350 passengers, which translates to 1,400 passengers in each train set of four coaches. Around 33% passengers would be able to have a seat while the rest of them will have to travel standing.” LARGE DISPLAY BOARDS
There would be clearer and sharper displays inside every coach. Each coach is fitted with four 18.5-inch LCD and LED screens to run audio-visual messages and commercials.
Kumar Keshav said, “These coaches would be more energy efficient than those used by Delhi Metro, Kochi Metro, Chennai or Jaipur metro because of our advanced disc system breaks.” TALK TO DRIVER FACILITY
In case of illness or emergency, anyone can push a button and talk to the driver. The coaches would also have energy-efficient sub-systems like LED lighting and advanced air-conditioning. CCTV CAMS
The coaches would be having CCTV cameras for inside and outside view of the train. The images would be accessible to the control room and driver.
Dynamic Route Maps (DRM) have been installed on each door panel to let passengers know their journey status. Slots have also been provided for mobile charging inside coaches.
