King George’s Medical University teachers w ishing to run diagnostic facilities on the campus will have to forego their salaries.

The KGMU Teachers’ Association had demanded rights to run diagnostic facilities on public private partnership model, saying they could run the services at cheaper rates than what external agencies charged .

In reply to the demand, the vice chancellor, Prof Ravi Kant in an open letter to the association, said the teachers’ association may do so and names for it should be selected with the approval of 75% of the faculty.

“No salary or allowances will be paid to any faculty member

If 75% of faculty and executive members sign and approve the name of person wanting to run the facilities, then any faculty member can be given the option to run CT/ MRI in KGMU. PROF RAVI KANT, KGMU V-C

involved whole time in running the CT, MRI or other diagnostic facility. As they would run machines, hence their salary has to be derived from the same,” was the first rider that the VC kept for faculty members interested to run patient facilities.

The association had claimed the present partners running facilities on PPP shared only about 33% of the income with university. The vice chancellor, however, said the new norms had 50-50 sharing and teachers association will have to work on the same basis.

He said that all fresh agreement for PPP were based upon 50% sharing basis.

“If 75% of faculty and executive members sign and approve the name of person wanting to run the facilities, then any faculty member can be given the option to run CT/ MRI in KGMU. But the members would have to submit tender. Clearance will be as per norms only,” said the vice chancellor.
