Car-borne miscreants kidnapped a class 12 student from court road in Saharanpur on Thursday morning, police said.

The girl’s family accused a boy belonging to another caste of kidnapping the girl. They claimed that the accused boy and his friends had been stalking the girl for the last few days and kidnapped her when she turned down his request for friendship.

The incident took place at around 7.30 am when the girl was on the way to her school with a friend. A van reached there and one of the criminals allegedly dragged the girl inside it and drove away.

The kidnapping incident in broad daylight created sensation in the area. The SSP and other police officials rushed to the spot and directed the cops to seal all exit points of the district. A search operation was launched to nab the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, the girl`s familymembers and local residents sat on a dharna and blocked Delhi road. A few of agitators also went on rampage and vandalised a roadways bus. They also thrashed the bus conductor and allegedly snatched cash from him.

SSP, Saharanpur, Manoj Tiwari said the police had received a complaint from the girl’s family and further investigations were on in the case.

Tiwari said that teams had been formed to ensure safe recovery of the girl. He did not rule out the possibility of the girl accompanying them on her own.
