Parrikar is cheating Hindus, says former chief of RSS Goa unit
Former chief of RSS Goa unit Subhash Velingkar has hit out at Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar for “appeasing the Christians” in the state ahead of the assembly polls for his “personal glory” and “cheating the Hindus”.
Speaking to Hindustan Times from Goa, Velingkar said Parrikar, a former chief minister of the state, has failed to fulfill his promise to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Hindus to protect the local languages by promoting education in the mother tongue.
Velingkar wants Marathi and Konkani as the medium of instruction in schools and an end to government grants for English-medium schools.
He said the cadre was also peeved by Parrikar’s intent to seek voting rights for those “minorities who had opted for dual citizenship”.
Velingkar, removed as chief of the unit on Wednesday, has set up his own RSS faction.
He had upset the BJP brass after his supporters waved black flags during party president Amit Shah’s visit to the state.

nearly two decades.
He said while he had no “political ambition” and will not contest polls, he will remain coordinator of the faction of RSS workers who are part of his Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM), which will contest against the BJP in the 2017 state polls.
“We supported the BJP because Parrikar had assured us that he will accede to our demand. Now, we will either support the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party if it breaks ties with the BJP or field Independent candidates. We have learnt from the Sangh not to compromise on principles,” Velingkar said.
