Farzana stars in SFC’s fascinating 10-0 victory

Farzana struck three goals as favourites Shanti Foundation Club (SFC) scored a thumping 10-0 win against Madhyamik Vidyalaya (Cantt) to collect full points in the women’s section of the Lucknow Hockey League-2016, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Thursday. Pooja Sinha, Sushma and Kiran Kumari shared six goals between them, whereas Reeu Singh netted one goal. WOMEN’S SPORT The district level trials for women in aquatics and table tennis will be held on Friday and Saturday, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium and Vijayant Khand Stadium, respectively. Women aged below 25 years can take part in the trials and the selected ones would be participating in the regional trials to be held on September 5 at the same venue. The finally, selected teams would be participating in the state meet to be held at Meerut on September 9 and 10. BASKETBALL LEAGUE Favourites St Fidelis boys continued their winning spree in the District Schools Basketball League here on Thursday, outplaying hosts Vidyatree 45-11 in a onesided affair. LPS (Sahara Estates) beat Vidyatree 41-2, Spring Dale beat Janta Inter College 31-22 and LPC (Rajajipuram) beat Janta Inter College 44-21. WEEKLY BRIDGE The duo of Shantanu RastogiTP Khare (65.63%) emerged victorious in the match point pairs events of the Weekly Bridge Tournament, at the Lucknow Club here. Nine pairs played nine rounds of two boards each. Rastogi and Khare won with a margin of over one and half boards and with a very good score. They had eight tops, two above average scores and one zeros in their score. B PrasadArun Srivastava (55.21%) and SK Garg-Pravin Agarwal (54.17%) finished second and third, respectively.
