EX-CCS VARSITY V-C GETS 2-YR RI FOR FRAUD
The special judge, CBI court, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi on Friday convicted professor Ramesh Chandra, former vice chancellor, Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut and his daughter Seema for criminal conspiracy in obtaining fraudulently the post of environmental engineer in Delhi Pollution Control Commission (DPCC) during 1997-99. The court awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of `10,000 to both the accused.
The special judge, CBI court, Tis H azari Courts, Delhi on Friday convicted professor Ramesh Chandra, former vice chancellor, Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut and his daughter Seema for criminal conspiracy in obtaining fraudulently the post of environmental engineer in Delhi Pollution Control Commission (DPCC) during 1997-99.
The court awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs10,000 to both the accused.
“The CBI has registered the case against professor Ramesh Chandra and others on May 3, 2000. It was alleged that the accused abused his official position as professor in Polymer Technology in directorate of Training and Technical Education, Government of Delhi in the appointment of his daughter to the post of assistant environmental engineer in Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) by using forged photocopy of marksheet of Bangalore University, indicating her as having passed BE (Bachelor of Electronics Engineering) wherein she had failed in her final examination,” informed an official.
After registration of case, searches were conducted at seven places which led to recovery of incriminating documents relating to the case.
After investigation, the CBI filed a charge-sheet in the court.
