Addl police in-charges to ease work pressure

To ease daily work pressure on police station in-charges, additional in-charges (inspectors) are being posted at five police stations which have maximum law and order issues and traffic problem in the state capital. At least one sub-inspector, three head constables and 10 constables each would also be deployed along with the additional in-charges for their assistance.

The postings of additional police station in-charges are being done as a part of pilot project in the city at Hazratganj, Hussaingan­j, Alambagh, Cantt and Qaiserbagh. police stations and the practice would be implemente­d at other police stations after evaluating its response. “Nearly 25 out of 38 busiest stretches of the city come under the jurisdicti­on of these five police stations,” emphasised A Satish Ganesh, inspector general (IG) of police, Lucknow Zone. He said SSP Lucknow Manzil Saini had already posted additional incharges on Thursday night.

The IG said the work profile of the additional in-charges is to ensure proper traffic flow and handle law and order issues like protests and agitations being held in the area. He said the additional force would also ensure proper patrolling in the area. However, the posting of additional incharges new practice has led to a new debate over posting of senior rank officer under junior officers. Many inspectors did not join their new assignment on Friday.
