Man, ‘cop’ friends attempt rape with daughter’s pals

A former zila panchayat member Mithilesh Rajput and his two friends Rajiv Tiwari and Guddu, who introduced themselves as policemen, allegedly attempted rape with two friends of his daughter in an abandoned house in Ashiana on the pretext of providing jobs.

The two girls were badly injured as they jumped from the first floor to save themselves. The trio fled the scene when some locals turned up. “The incident took place on the night of August 30 but the local cops tried to conceal the crime. They did not inform senior police officials even three days after the incident,” alleged the family members of the victims.

An FIR of attempt to rape was registered on August 31 when the girls’ families reached the police station but so far no arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, when questioned, station officer of Ashiana police station, Sanjay Pandey said that the girls were apparently not comfortable staying at the house arranged by Mithilesh Rajput so they tried leaving the place secretly and injured themselves. He said the incident is being probed.

As per reports, the two girls had studied along with Rajput’s daughter. She had called them from Kanpur assuring that her father would arrange jobs for them. Rajput, however, told the girls to stay at an abandoned house in Ashiana. The girls got suspicious when two unknown persons introducing themselves as police constables Rajiv Tiwari and Guddu entered the house and started interacting with them. The girls fled when the duo went out of the room. Rajput and his two friends fled from the scene and were untraceable till the time of report filing.
