SFC men and women excel

Shanti Foundation Club (SFC) dictated terms in both men and women categories of the Lucknow Hockey League-2016, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Friday. SFC men outplayed Sports College ‘Blue’ 2-1 to collect full points in the first match of the day. Though College took lead through Rahul in the 29th minute, SFC shot back-to-back goals in the 43rd and 45th minutes, respective­ly to script their win. P Singh struck both the goals. The scoreline in the women’s section also remain unchanged as SFC trounced Balika Vidyalaya. Kiran Kumari netted in the 11th and 14th minutes, respective­ly, whereas Priyanka scored the consolatio­n goal for the losers. COLLEGE HOCKEY The district open school under14 and under-16 hockey tournament for both boys and girls will be held on September 6 and 7, at the CB Gupta Ground here. Interested teams must report at the venue at 9.00 a.m. ASCA IN FINAL Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy (ASCA) stormed into the final of the Under-17 Cricket Tournament, defeating Lucknow Cricket Hostel by 148 runs, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday. After scoring 198 for nine in stipulated 30 overs while batting first after winning the toss, ASCA got the rivals on the match at 51 in just 16.1 overs. Rohit Dwivedi and Vishal Raj shared six wickets between them, whereas Umar and Sashank Verma took two wickets each. FLYING START The 39th UP State Shooting Championsh­ip got off to a flying start at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Friday as over 2000 shooters from various parts of the state confirmed their participat­ion in rifle, pistol and shotgun events, which really begins on Saturday. The shooters, who achieved the minimum qualificat­ion score in this competitio­n, would participat­e in the All-India Championsh­ip in Mumbai.
