UP village set to have power restored after 11 years
AGRA: Twenty-three-year- old Deepti Mishra might have never thought she would see bulbs and fans function in her village which lost power 11 years ago.
But now she is thankful to the Prime Minister’s Office for taking her complaint seriously.
The remote village in Etah district is likely to have electricity restored on Tuesday with the Dakshinanachal Vidyut Vitaram Nigam Ltd (DVVNL) likely to reach the village for the same.
Deepti was a student of Class 8 at her village Bhidiya or Madhuban in Jainthra block of Etah district when the village’s travails began.
“Our village was electrified in January 2005 but due to a storm in June that year, the power lines were damaged never to be repaired after that. Years passed without electricity. I remember studying in the light of earthen lamps till Class 12,” says Deepti Mishra, daughter of a farmer.” says Deepti talking to HT.“I came to Noida this year.
In August, I came across a website which gave one the option to write to the prime minister. I posted a complaint about the village and forgot about it. Later the same month, I got a call from the electricity department at Etah informing that my complaint had been taken up and soon would be attended,” said a delighted Deepti on the phone.“This phone call was followed by letters. On September 7, I was assured power supply within a week. I have come to know that work for restoration of power supply after 11 years has begun and villagers might get electricity this month,” she said, thanking the PMO for the response.
