Single window clearance for SMEs soon

-

Acceding to the long pending demand of industrialists in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to extend single window clearance facility to micro, small and medium enterprises willing to set up their units in the state.

After this facility, industrialists willing to set up small and medium units in the state would not have to make rounds of several government departments to fulfill formalities before they start operating.

In Uttar Pradesh, single window clearance is only available to those who are willing to invest Rs 50 crore or more. Micro, small and medium enterprises fall much below this benchmark.

An online common application form is available for all industrialists in UP except for the SME sector. This form facilitates 38 clearances from 11 departments of the state government without making rounds of government departments. Now, this facility (online common application form ) would be available to the SME sector also. Of the total GDP of Uttar Pradesh, the SME sector contributes 60%- not a mean figure by any standard.

“A cabinet note has been prepared and sent to 11 departments for their approval. After getting clearance from these departments, the state cabinet will give its approval to single window clearance to the micro, small and medium enterprises also,” informed an official of the state government.

The state government’s move would also give a boost to upcoming entrepreneurs who want to start their own ventures in the state.

Entrepreneurs willing to invest in UP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Startup India plan would also benefit from the single window clearance. “The SME sector has been demanding single window clearance for the past several years. It is a welcome move of the state government,” said Prashant Bhatia of IIA.
