Youth found dead, murder suspected

-

A 25-year-old youth was found murdered (with multiple injuries on his private parts) in his room in Jankipuram here on Saturday afternoon. The body was found in a sitting position with a rope tied around his neck and several other injury marks on his body. Police said spot examination indicated that the youth had been murdered and the assailants apparently tried to pass it off as a suicide case.

The deceased, Ankit Singh, resident of Hardoi, was staying in a room on the first floor of a house bought by his father Jagdish Singh in September 2015. The other portions of the house were rented to two other families. Singh stayed here to prepare for civil services examination and had lied to his family that he had been selected for a post in the prime minister’s office recently.

Jai Prakash, additional SP of trans-Gomti area, said the deceased had talked to his family members on Friday and told them that UP Governor Ram Naik had called him to felicitate him for his achievement. The Governor’s House authorities, however, denied visit of the deceased when HT contacted them to confirm the facts. The ASP said that the deceased told several similar false things to his family to win their praise . He said Nitin Agarwal, a tenant in the same house, first spotted the body and informed the police . The body has been sent for post mortem examination and further probe is on.
