THE CHARGE SP and BSP have eaten up all the money meant for Bundelkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused him of ignoring the interest of farmers of Bundelkhand and other parts of the country.

He said Modi promised the moon to farmers during his campaign in the run up to Lok Sabha election but forgot them after taking over as Prime Minister.

He claimed that the Prime Minister was serving the interest of industrialists who were making huge profits during his regime.

“Farmers are feeling neglected. Modiji needs to understand their pain,” said the Congress leader while addressing a meeting in Kabrai, the gateway to Mahoba.

Gandhi garlanded the statue of Swami Parmanand and visited the house of freedom-fighter Achchey Lal Saxena.

He joined the activists of Bundeli Samaj at Alha Chowk and supported their demands, including an AIIMS in Bundelkhand. About 10,000 people die every year in the region due to lack of quality treatment.

He said while the Congress gave loan waiver to farmers, the Modi government was writing off loans of industrialists.

Gandhi said if voted to power, the Congress would waive off farmers’ loans, cut their electricity bills to half and the farmers would be given higher MSP.

Attacking the SP and the BSP, he said the two parties had eaten up all the money meant for the development of Bundelkhand.

Terming Samajwadi Party a ‘one family party’, he said its leaders had no time to work for the development of Uttar Pradesh but had enough time to fight. “All political parties, barring the Congress, have cheated Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand. People did not get anything except promises in 27 years,” he said.

“Uttar Pradesh will now be developed on the lines of New Delhi,” he added.
