CM SET TO SHIFT TO NEW OFFICE ON OCT 3
From the fifth floor in Lal Bahadur Shastri Building, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would move into his new swanky office opposite Vidhan Bhawan on October 3. The five-storeyed imposing CM’s secretariat has been rechristened as ‘Lok Bhawan’ by the state government.
Some 1800 workers are toiling round-the-clock to give final touches to the new office building that would have all stateof-the-art facilities and hi-tech security features. Spread over six acres approximately, the new seat of the government would have three office blocks. The chief secretary’s office would be just next to the CM. Besides special upscale lounges; the building would have a well-equipped auditorium, a cabinet hall, separate, modern meeting hall and exclusive conference rooms and security offices. While the twostoreyed A-block would house the security paraphernalia, the seven-floor C-block would accommodate important departments like home, personnel, finance etc. “Many important government departments like the PWD and education had to function from places like Janpath Market because of an acute space crunch. The Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) is now drawing up a plan to accommodate senior officials and important departments in one place,” the officer said.
