Communal clash in Aligarh over eve teasing

-

Six people were injured when an eve teasing incident here on Friday led to stone pelting between members of the Hindu and Muslim communities. Prompt police action brought the situation under control.

Mischief mongers, reportedly part of Ram Barat procession, allegedly eve teased some women of the Muslim community as the procession was passing through Gurudwara Road. The women were standing in front of their houses, watching the convoy. As per reports, a youth and his friends, part of the procession, passed objectionable comments on the women. The husband of one of the women came out and rebuked the youngsters. As the young men started reacting, others from the procession calmed them down and the matter seemed to end there.

However, late in the evening, the youths went back to the women’s houses and assaulted the man who had reprimanded them earlier. This led to stone pelting between the youths and the people of the neighbourhood. Six people including Dharmendra, Mukesh and Pushpendra got injured in the incident, said cops.
