Every UP district to have dialysis centre: Nadda

- HT Correspondent

Union health minister JP Nadda on Saturday said the centre would help set up a dialysis centre in each district of the state. He also said that such centres had begun operating in 36 districts already. Free treatment would be provided to people belonging to BPL families through these centres.

The union minister was addressing a rally at Faizabad’s ground after laying the foundation of a government allopathic medical college.

In Gorakhpur, Nadda laid the foundation stone of eight super specialty blocks at the BRD Medical College, paving the way for easy access to treatment of fatal diseases in eastern UP.

The Rs 150 crore project includes setting up eight blocks— neurosurgery, urology, gastro surgery, cardio vascular surgery, cardiology, neurology, nephrology and gastroenterology. Once completed, patients from the region as well as neighbouring state Bihar and border country Nepal would be able to get specialised treatment for these diseases. Minister of state for health Anupriya Patel and UP health minister Radhey Shyam Singh was also present on the occasion.

Speaking to mediapersons, Nadda said the Central government was serious about dealing with the encephalitis menace and assured that the BJP-led NDA government would not allow monetary constraint to become a hurdle in the treatment of encephalitis patients. “The government at the Centre has provided the funds demanded by the state government for health services,” he said.
