HOW INDIA TOOK CONTROL

-

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fifer wasn’t the only major factor for India’s good state.

TAIL WAGS FOR INDIA

With the last recognised pair still at the wicket, India’s aim was to get at least 300. Ravindra Jadeja didn’t last long but Wriddhiman Saha helped India accumulate 77 runs in 18.5 before last man Mohammed Shami was dismissed.

DECISIVE OVERS

With just over two sessions left in the day, New Zealand had all the time to graft a good start, especially in the five overs before lunch. But they couldn’t wait. New Zealand did get to 21 runs in those five overs but lost both openers in the process.

RONCHI OUT OF LUCK

Luke Ronchi should have been out on 21. But Rod Tucker turned down Ravindra Jadeja’s appeal. Later, when Jadeja trapped him leg-before, replays suggested it was just missing the leg stump. The wicket ended a promising 62-run partnership.
