KGMU collaborating with foreign institutes
LUCKNOW: Diseases troubling large number of people in India might soon find treatment options as King George’s Medical University has teamed up with several foreign medical institutes.
There are over a dozen such collaborations and MoUs have been signed for research on various diseases. Such research will benefit patients as the outcome will help speedy treatment or prevention of the diseases.
“The collaborations are aimed at getting the latest international approach towards specific diseases and also to let out students be exposed to international standards of research and academics. In fact such collaborations are necessity of medical science now,” said Prof Ravi Kant, vice chancellor, KGMU.
The areas of research include cancer of various types and even Zika virus. Many Indian medical institutes have also been made part of the collaborative effort. This has been done to make sure diseases from all parts of the country are covered.
The foreign institutes include University of British Columbia, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal, Lithuanian University of Health Science, Kaunas (Lithuania), McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, University of Manitoba Canada, University of Pavia Italy, Rutgers State University of New jersey, USA, University of Sydney, Australia, Texas Tech University health science centre USA.
